As Canada's largest and most visible airline, Air Canada is a fixture of the skies. Each plane is emblazoned with its signature red maple leaf and Air Canada's fleet jets passengers to nearly 100 destinations and operates more than 1,600 daily flights. Air Canada also operates a fantastic loyalty program, Aeroplan, which awards frequent fliers for each Air Canada flight they complete.

Points in the Aeroplan program are earned based on a combination of factors, starting with the distance you've flown. From there, Air Canada factors in your fare class in order to determine the percentage of miles flown that are eligible to earn points. For example, a Basic Fare ticket would one point per mile based on 25% of the distance flown, while a Business Class ticket would earn one point per mile on 150% of the distance flown. There is also some importance assigned to your flight route, with international flights given a higher points-earning rate than domestic flights within Canada.

Your status level can also have a big impact on your Aeroplan earnings. Once you reach the 25K Aeroplan Elite Status, you'll get 25% bonus points per flights, this increases to 100% when you hit the Aeroplan Super Elite status.
